The P&J and the Herald report: “Oil industry leaders and academics will gather in Aberdeen this week to take the first steps towards creating an archive of the UK offshore oil and gas industry.

The men (sic!) behind the project say the aim is to build an information bank to show future generations the enormous impact of oil and gas on the British economy and way of life.” (P&J)

“The first steps will be taken on Wednesday [8 March 2006] when Brian Wilson, former energy minister, chairs a one-day conference at Aberdeen University.” (The Herald)

The “Green Futures” magazine brings a feature by Ed Gillespie discussing whether Art could save the planet — or at least “change the climate of opinion on climate change”. The answer is yes; the reason: “Art is to the community what the dream is to the individual” according to Thomas Mann. And the feature lists examples of an “emerging body of work” adressing climate change. Green Futures was founded by the “Forum for the Future”. Green Futures and Forum for the Future are sponsored, amongst others, by BP, Calor Gas, RWE npower to name a few.
